Reviewed by Health Coach Carli Webb, MS

Are you looking for a delicious way to support your hormone health? Look no further than this nutrient-packed broccoli salad!

Broccoli is not only a versatile vegetable but also offers several benefits for hormone balance. Here’s why this salad should be on your menu:

  1. Cruciferous Power: Broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable, known for its hormone-balancing properties, that contains compounds like glucosinolates that support hormone metabolism.

  2. Estrogen Balance: Broccoli contains indole-3-carbinol, a compound that can help balance estrogen levels by promoting the conversion of estrogen to a less potent form.

  3. Antioxidant Boost: Rich in antioxidants like vitamin C and beta-carotene, broccoli helps reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, supporting overall hormone health.

  4. Detox Support: Broccoli’s sulfur compounds support liver detoxification, aiding in the elimination of excess hormones from the body.

  5. Fiber Richness: With its high fiber content, broccoli promotes digestive health, crucial for maintaining hormonal balance.

Let’s dive into this crunchy and bright broccoli salad recipe!

  • 4 cups chopped broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup chopped red onion
  • 1/2 cup dried raisins
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or cashews
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt (dairy alternative recommended)
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil Mayonnaise
  • Juice of 1 medium lemon
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Prepare the Dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together the yogurt, lemon juice, mayonnaise, optional sweetener, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

  2. Prepare the Salad: In a large bowl, combine the broccoli florets, red onion, raisins, and nuts.

  3. Combine: Pour the dressing over the salad and toss until well coated.

  4. Chill and Serve: Cover the salad and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld together. This can even sit over night as the broccoli holds very well!
